Odisha tennis ace Kabir Hans has joined the recently launched KIIT-Alexander Waske-Altevol Tennis Academy in Bhubaneswar. The academy has been set up in partnership with former German tennis sensation and grand slam winner Alexander Waske and Altevol Tennis Academy.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Jaimin Mehta, Kabir is working deligently to further improve his game. The Odisha player was earlier sharpening his game under Mehta at the Ahmedabad-based Aletvol Sports Academy.
During their six-month-long association, Kabir has impressed Mehta with his will to work hard and aspiration to win greater laurels. “Kabir is a hard-working player and I am impressed with his hunger for success,” said Mehta during a function, which was organised in Bhubaneswar to felicitate Kabir.
“Kabir is very sincere and never misses a training session. He is ready to do whatever is required to realise his next goal of winning an ITF mens title. We have been working to improve upon a few aspects of his game. If Kabir gets opportunities to play more and more ITF tournaments, there is no reason why he can not be a champion.” added Mehta, who hails from Maharashtra.
Asked for his observation on when Kabir could win his maiden ITF title, Mehta said, “It depends on how many tournaments he gets to play. I think, Kabir can achieve it within a year if he gets to play around 20 tournaments,” signed off Mehta.
