Odisha bagged one gold and one silver medal at the 5th National Para Badminton Championship, which was held at Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 23 to 26 March 2023.
A total of 12 para shuttlers would represent Odisha in this championship. Deep Ranjan Bisoyee won the gold medal in mens SL3-SL4 doubles with Manoj Sarkar of Uttarakhand, defeating Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu pair of Nihal Gupta and Naveen in the final 21-11, 21-18.
Rani Gardia settled for the silver medal in U-19 girls SU5 singles after losing to Koshika Devda of Haryana 8-21, 5-21 in the title clash. Rani reached the final, trouncing Vidushi Vibhuti Raj of Uttar Pradesh 21-1, 21-6 in the semifinals.
