  Jr Men East Zone Hockey: Odisha finish runners-up

Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) finished runners-up in the 1st Hockey India Junior Men East Zone Championship which was held at Birsa College Compound in Khunti (Ranchi), Jharkhand from 19 to 26 March 2023. Host Hockey Jharkhand emerged champions, beating Odisha 3-1 in the final.

Odisha played five matches, including the final, won three and lost two. Odisha penalty-corner specialist Anmol Ekka became the top scorer of the championship, scoring 12 goals in five matches. The 18-member Odisha team was led by Pratap Toppo.

March 20 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Aryan Xess 5-FG, 22-FG, 30-FG, 37-FG, 54-PC; Anmol Ekka 26-PC, 26-PC, 43-PC, 48-PC, 58-PC; Pratap Toppo 41-FG, 58-FG; Abhishek Kispotta 49-PC, Sanjit Tirkey 60-PC) beat Assam Hockey 14-0.

March 21 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Pratap Toppo 14-FG, Anmol Ekka 18-PC, 19-PC, 23-PC; Abhishek Kispotta 22-PC, 36-PC; Deepak Pradhan 47-PC) beat Hockey Bihar 7-0.

March 23 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Anmol Ekka 8-PC, 12-PC, 43-PC; Sanjit Tirkey 13-PC, 14-PC; Binit Xalxo 17-FG, Aryan Xess 22-FG, Premdayal Giri 27-FG, Deepak Pradhan 50-FG, Abhishek Kispotta 60-PC) beat Hockey Bengal 10-0.

March 25 (League match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Premdayal Giri 33-PC) lost to Hockey Jharkhand (Deepak Soreng 34-FG, 56-FG; Roshan Ekka 44-PC) 1-3.

March 26 (Final match): Hockey Association of Odisha (Anmol Ekka 36-PC) lost to Hockey Jharkhand (Roshan Ekka 16-PS, Deepak Soreng 43-FG, 55-FG) 1-3.
