Leading Odisha women swimmers Pratyasa Ray and Shristi Upadhyay won respective second medal in the Thailand Age-Group Swimming Championships at Assumption University Aquatic Centre in Bangkok today.
Twenty-one-year-old Pratyasa, who had secured silver medal in 50m backstroke three days ago, bagged another silver today in 200m backstroke, clocking 2:31.51. Shristi followed the 100m butterfly bronze medal she won two days back with one more bronze in 50m butterfly today.
The Shristi medal assumed added significance as she clocked a new personal-best time of 29.09. While capturing her 100m butterfly bronze, she had also achieved her personal best of 1:04.42.
Both Pratyasa and Shristi belong to Odisha JSW Swimming High Performance Centre, located at Kalinga Stadium Swimming Complex in Bhubaneswar. A 16-member squad from the Odisha JSW Swimming HPC represented Inspire Institute of Sports at the Thailand Age-Group Swimming Championships.
This is an international exposure competition for the Odisha swimmers and aims at helping them prepare for the upcoming swimming season in India. The Thailand tour of the squad was fully sponsored by Inspire Institue of Sports (IIS) JSW.
