Sports Hostel Odisha won the bronze medal in the 2nd edition of the Khelo India Womens Hockey League 2022 (U-21) by defeating SAI Bal 3-1 in the 3/4th-place match of the third and final hase at Mohammad Shaheed Hockey Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh today.
Pritam Siwach Sports Foundation were crowned champions, beating Har Hockey Academy 2-0 in the final today. Earlier in the semifinals, Sports Hostel Odisha lost to Pritam Siwach Sports Foundation 2-3.
Sports Hostel Odisha won a prize money of Rs 2 lakhs. In the third and final phase, Sports Hostel Odisha played five matches, won four and lost one. The 20-member Odisha team scored the highest number of 21 goals.
The second edition of the tournament, featuring three phases, was conducted from 29 February to 11 March 2023. Sports Hostel Odisha team played three matches, won two and lost one in the first phase, which was held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from 19 to 24 February 2023. The Odisha team played all three of their league matches in Pool-B and finished second behind Har Hockey Academy.
The 18-member Sports Hostel Odisha team was led by Kamla Singh with Puja Sahoo as her deputy. Among notable Odisha performers in the first phase, Munmuni Das scored a hat-trick in their second match against Ghumanhera Risers Academy.
In the second phase, which was also held at Mohammad Shaheed Hockey Stadium in Lucknow from March 29 to April 2, Sports Hostel Odisha played four matches, won three and drew one.
