International Sukhram Majhi will lead a 16-member Odisha men team in the Elite Group-C of the 5th Nagesh Trophy National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind at Ajmer, Rajasthan from 13 to 17 February 2023. Telangana, Delhi, Jammu-Kashmir and Rajasthan are other four teams in the group.
Cricket Association for the Visually Impaired (CAVI) Odisha today announced the State team with Lingaraj Rautara as vice-captain. The fifth edition of the tournament, featuring 28 teams, is being held across seven cities from January 31.
League matches would take place in Ajmer (Rajasthan), Belgaum (Karnataka), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Chandigarh, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) and Pondicherry. The Super-8 (quarterfinals), semifinals and the final would be played in Mumbai.
Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled would be hosting the tournament under the aegis of Cricket Association for the Blind in India. The 28 have been divided into six groups. Group A, B, C and D are elite group and E and F groups are plate group. Top four teams of the elite group will directly qualify for the Super-Eight.
Nagesh Trophy was launched in the memory of SP Nagesh, founder president of Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) in the year 2018-19. Andhra Pradesh are the defending champions of Nagesh Trophy while Karnataka are the runners up.
