  KIYG Hockey: Odisha men win silver; Women finish 4th

Odisha won one silver medal in hockey competition of the 4th Khelo India Youth Games after its U-18 Men team finished runners-up, losing to host Madhya Pradesh by 2-3 goals in the final at MP Womens Academy turf in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh today.

Odisha U-18 Women finished fourth in the competition as they lost to Haryana by a solitary goal in the bronze medal match earlier in the day. Roshan Kujur and Munmuni Das were captains of the Odisha U-18 men and women teams respectively.

 

ODISHA U-18 MEN TEAM: Takhelchangbam Anish Sharma (GK), Anmol Ekka, Sanjit Tirkey, Prem Dayal Giri, Akash Soreng, Bilkan Oram, Emanuel Barla, Paulus Lakra, Sandeep Ekka, Rosan Kujur (Captain), Irengbam Rohit Singh, Vivek Lakra (GK), Arbin Toppo, Anmol Ekka, Jasman Munda, Deepak Minz, Aryan Xess, Ningombam Amarjit Singh. Feb 5: Odisha (Akash Soreng 15-PC, 15-PC, Aryan Xess 16-FG) beat Haryana (Ankit 4-PC, 35-PC) 3-2.
Feb 7: Odisha (Prem Dayal Giri 19-PC, Paulus Lakra 27-FG, Aryan Xess 37-FG, Anmol Ekka 41-PC, 52-PC; Jasman Munda 51-PC, Deepak Minz 54-FG) beat Chandigarh (Fateh Singh 3-FG, Raman 19-FG, 44-FG; Gurpreet Singh 40-PC) 7-4.
Feb 9 (SF): Odisha (Irengbam Rohit Singh 23-FG) beat Jharkhand 1-0.
Feb 10 (Final): Madhya Pradesh (Zameer Mohammad 15-PC, Ali Ahmad 43-FG, Ankit Pal 50-PC) beat Odisha (Irengbam Rohit Singh 14-FG, Akash Soreng 32-PC) 3-2.
