Odisha Junior Davis Cupper Debasis Sahoo emerged boys doubles champion in the ITF Junior World Ranking Tennis Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal today. Debasis won the doubles title with his Indian partner Sahaj Singh Pawar, beating USA-Nepal pair of Aarav Samrat Hada and Aki Zuben Rawat in the final 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
On their way to the final, top seeds Debasis and Sahaj three matches. They beat Aryan Giri and Pranav Manandhar (both Nepal) 6-3, 7-6 (10-8) in the first round, Gyeom Do and Wonmin Kim (both Korea) 6-4, 6-2 in quarterfinals and Pranav Korade and Smit Nileshbhai Patel (both India) 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 10-4 in semifinals.
Debasis also reached singles semifinals before losing to Pratyaksh 5-7, 0-6. Seeded second, Debasis book his semifinal berth, defeting Fanming Meng (China) 7-6(4), 6-7(8), 6-3 in the first round, Gyeom Do (Korea) 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 in the second round and Tran Quoc Cuong (Vietnam) 6-2, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
