Kabir Hans and Aahan clinched a double crown each in the 9th All-Odisha Utkal Open Tennis Tournament, which was organised by Ace Tennis Club at Kalinga Stadium Tennis Complex in Bhubaneswar from 10 to 12 February 2023.
Kabir Hans won both mens singles and doubles titles with Shimon Shastri as his doubles partner. Aahan emerged champion in girls under-14 and womens singles events. The three-day tournament featured a total of nine events. Sai Swastik Mohanty and Surya Pratap Naik won the boys under-14 and under-12 singles crowns respectively.
Around 250 players from all across the State participated in the tournament. MSME Principal Secretary handed over the trophies and cash prizes at the closing ceremony.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Debidutta Biswal, Utkal Builders founder Bhanwarlal Baid were present on the occasion.
RESULTS (All finals): Mens singles: Kabir Hans beat Aditya Satapathy 6-3, 6-2. Mens doubles: Kabir Hans and Shimon Shastri beat Kumar Anurag Saran and Pratyush Mohanty 6-0, 6-0. Womens singles: Aahan beat Krishna Raj 6-1, 6-0. Boys U-14 singles: Sai Swastik Mohanty beat Aditya Bikram Acharya 6-3, 5-7, (10-2). Girls U-14 singles: Aahan beat Avipsha Dehury 6-2, 6-1. Boys U-12 singles: Surya Pratap Naik beat Surya Das 6-0, 6-1. Senior Mens 40+ doubles: PK Patnaik and Sathirtha Patnaik beat Vivek Tibarewal and Prasanta Patra 9-2. Veteran 50+ doubles: Jeeten Mohanty and Snehasis Behera beat D Panmei and Bandhu Mohanty 9-8(3). Veteran 60+ doubles: BN Mohanty and Rabindra Senapati beat SS Rath and Ajay Mohapatra (walk-over).
