Iconic Odisha shuttler Pramod Bhagat added two more jewels to his glittering crown by winning mens SL3 singles silver and mens SL3-SL4 doubles gold medal with partner Sukant Kadam (India) at the Spanish Para Badminton International in Vitoria, Spain today.
Among three other Odisha shuttlers who participated in this BWF Level-2 Tournament, Subhrajeet Maharana bagged his maiden international medal, securing the mens SL3-SL4 doubles bronze with Mohammad Arwaz Ansari (India) as his partner.
Bhagat, seeded second, settled for singles silver medal as he lost to top seed Daniel Bethell (England) in the final 18-21, 8-21. In the doubles final, Bhagat and Kadam faced stiff fight against compatriots Nitesh Kumar and Tarun before winning 22-20, 12-21, 21-9.
World and Paralympic champion Bhagat also participated in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event with Manisha Ramadass as his partner. The Indian duo reached pre-quarterfinals before going down to Indonesian combination of Fredy Setiawan and Khalimatus Sadiyah 21-15, 18-21, 18-21.
