  Swasti selected for Asiad and Asian Track Championships

Odisha ace Swasti Singh has been selected in the Indian team for the 2023 Asian Track Cycling Championships and Asian Games. The Asian Track Championship will be held at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Malaysia from 14 to 19 June 2023. It will be a qualification event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Asian Championship will be followed by 19th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, Chaina from 23 September to 8 October 2023.

Rourkela girl Swasti has been selected for the women elite omnium event after securing first position in the National selection trials, held at the IGSC Cycling Velodrome in New Delhi on May 12, clocking 2:18.565.

She had won the women elite omnium gold medal in the 74th Senior National Track Cycling Championship, held at Guwahati, Assam in December 2022. Two month before, Swasti had captured the omnium silver medal at the 36th National Games in New Delhi.

The 22-year-old Odisha cyclist has four international medals in her name so far, including one bronze in Senior Asian Track Cycling Championship in 2022. Swasti has been honing her skills at the National Centre of Excellence in New Delhi, under the coaching of VN Singh since 2017.
