Odisha woman discus thrower Salmi Kispotta secured bronze medal on the third and penultimate day of the 26th National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships at at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, Jharkhand today.

Salmi achieved the feat with a throw of 46.31 metres. Shalini Chaudhary (Madhya Pradesh) and Paramjot Kaur (Punjab) bagged the gold and silver medal with efforts of 49.35 metres and 48.76 metres respectively.

With this bronze, the total number of medals for Odisha became five. Odisha had captured two gold and two bronze yesterday. Among other Odisha athletes in action today, Pryagyan Prasanti Sahu finished fouth in womens 100 mtr hurdles, clocking 13.60 seconds.

Despite missing the bronze medal, Pragyan achieved the Asian Championship qualifying mark of 13.63 seconds. Jyothi Yarraji (Andhra Pradesh), R Nithya Ramraj (Tamil Nadu) and Sapna Kumari (Jharkhand) won the gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
