KIIT captured both the gold and silver medal in rugby sevens competition. KIIT women won the gold, trouncing University of Mumbai 56-0, while their men settled for silver, going down fighting against Bharatiya Vidyapeeth, Pune 10-19 in the two contrasting finals held at Guru Govind Singh Sports College, Lucknow.

Nirmalya Rout led the KIIT women team admirably with three tries (15 points) to her name in the final match. For KIIT mens team, Jugal scored 10 points two tries in the gold-medal clash.

KIIT women reached the final, beating Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar 51-5, Chandigarh University, Mohali 51-0, Shivaji University, Kolhapur 36-5 at the league state, KISS University 20-0 in the quarterfinals and Shivaji University 24-5 in the semifinals.

On their way to the fiina, KIIT men beat University of Mumbai 31-0, Lovely Professional University, Punjab 28-12 and Shivaji University, Kolhapur 40-0 at league stage and then University of Calicut 22-5 in the quarterfinals and Lovely Professional University 29-0 in the semifinals.
