Rising swimming star of Odisha, Pratyasa Ray won her third medal for Utkal University with a silver in women 200m backstroke at the 3rd Khelo India University Games at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik (SVSP) Indoor Stadium in Greater Noida today. She finished second in the event, clocking 2:38.75.
Bhubaneswar swimmer Pratyasa had bagged gold in 100m backstroke and silver in 400m freestyle, clocking 1:08.58 seconds and 4:53.00 seconds respectively yesterday. This this lone medal today, the total number of medals for Odisha universities became five.
Besides the three medals by Utkal University, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University has secured one gold and one silver medal in rugby.
Odisha woman swimmer Shristi Upadhaya won one gold medal for Jadavpur University (West Bengal) in women 50m butterfly with a time of 29.42. Odisha male swimmer Shubhrant Patra, representing Jain University, Karnataka, secured one bronze medal in 200m butterfly won one silver and one bronze medal in 200m butterfly and 4x100m freestyle relay
In women football, Sambalpur University, Odisha defeated VELS University, Tamil Nadu 3–1 and in men hockey, Sambalpur University, Odisha drew with Purvanchal University 1–1.
