Hosts Great Britain replaced India at the top of the pool table with a 4-2 victory in the FIH Hockey Pro League encounter at the Lee Valley Hockey Stadium in London today. This was the second successive defeat and third overall for India, who stayed with their 19 points from 10 matches.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored both the goals for India, converting penalty corners on both occasions. The drag-flick expert also reached an individual milestone, becoming the all-time best goal scorer in the FIH Pro League with 35 goals.
In the action-packed second period, a disallowed goal for India and a penalty stroke for Great Britan which was saved by goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, saw the teams went into the halftime break all square on 1-1. Lee Morton was named player of the match. India will next take on Belgium on 2nd June 2023.
