  Sr Women Natl Football: Odisha bow out in semifinals

Odisha crashed out of the 27th Senior Women National Football Championship 2023 (Final Round), losing to Haryana 0-2 via penalty shootout in the second semifinal at GNDU Main Ground in Amritsar, Punjab today. Shootout rule was applied after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw.

Tamil Nadu beat Railways 3-1 in the first semifinal earlier in the day. In the title clash, Tamil Nadu will take on Haryana on June 28. Odisha reached semifinals by finishing second in Group-A league with 12 points from five matches.
 

Odisha won four matches and lost one. Tamil Nadu topped the group with full 15 points. In their five league matches, Odisha beat Jharkhand 2-0, Punjab 5-0, Karnataka 4-0 and Chandigarh 2-0, but lost to Tamil Nadu 0-3.

Odisha Skipper Jasoda Munda, who scored a hat-trick against Karnataka, finished as the second highest scorer of the championship with 11 goals to her name.

17 June (GNDU Main Ground): Odisha lost to Tamil Nadu (Sandhiya Ranganathan 22nd, Indumathi Kathiresan 39th, 75th) 0-3. PoM: Indumathi Kathiresan.

20 June (Khalsa Ground): Odisha (Jasoda Munda 12th, Satyabati Khadia 36th, 68th; Subhadra Sahoo 47th, 75th) beat Punjab 5-0. PoM: Satyabati Khadia.

21 June (GNDU Main Ground): Odisha (Jasoda Munda 34th, 38th-P, 55th; Malati Munda 44th) beat Karnataka 4-0. PoM: Jasoda Munda.

23 June (GNDU Main Ground): Odisha (Satyabati Khadia 27th, 87th) beat Chandigarh 2-0. PoM: Satyabati Khadia.

26 June (Semifinal, GNDU Main Ground): Odisha (Jasoda Munda 65th-P) drew with Haryana (Ritu Rani 36th) 1-1. Penalty Shootout: Haryana beat Odisha 2-0. PoM: Shreya Hooda (Haryana).
