If plans go in the right direction, leading sports-promoting State, Odisha could have a Centre of Excellence in equestrian too. The centre would not only provide training and coaching facilities to aspiring and active horse riders, but also help them win laurels for the State and country in equestrian and polo.
The concept of setting up of such a centre assumed importance during a meeting, featuring R Vineel Krishna, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha, horse-riding prodigy Rishita Samantaray and her parents _ Col Ashish Samantaray, Rohini Singh Deo _ at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar today.
While congratulating Rishita for winning one silver and one bronze medal at the Delhi Horse Show last month in Delhi, the Sports Secretary assured support to enable the promising horse rider achieve greater laurels for the State.
