While congratulating the Indian U-21 women team for their historic title triumph, Hockey India declared a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for each player and Rs 1 lakh each forĀ the support staff.
Earlier in the semifinals, India edged out host Japan 10, while Korea got the better of Chine 2-0. Sunelita Toppo scored the only goal for India in their semifinal clash against Japan. Indian forward Annu finished the tournament as the top goalscorer with nine goals.
India barged into the semifinals, winning three matches and drawing one on Pool-A league. They won the three league matches against Uzbekistan 22-0, Malaysia 2-1 and Chineses Taipei 11-0 and drew with Korea 2-2.
