Does the name Chinmayee Bhuyan ring any bell? Well, on 25 September 2016, she singlehandedly chased and overpowered three criminals who were trying to rob her gold chain and cell phone on the streets of Bhubaneswar.

The robbers did not know that Chinmayee was a national medal winning karateka! That act of bravery made Chinmayee famous and helped her getting a job in Twin City Commissionerate Police in January 2017.

Chinmayee reached another milestone of her career yesterday by winning two gold medals for India in the 2023 World Police & Fire Games, which is being held at RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

A practitioner at Utkal Karate School, Bhubaneswar, Chinmayee bagged the two gold medals in individual (60kg) and team fights while making her international debut.

Chinmayee has the reputation of winning one bronze medal in 61kg fight event of the KAI Senior National Karate Championship, held in Panaji, Goa on 25 and 26 February 2017. She won several medals in the State championships, including a gold in 2017.
