  Odisha para shuttlers bag 4 more international medals

Odisha para shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Deep Ranjan Bisoyee bagged a total of four medals at the 4-Nations Para Badminton International 2023, which concluded at the English Institute of Sports in Sheffield, England today. The four medals included one gold and three silver.

Paralympic and World champion Pramod Bhagat asserted his supremacy in the five-day Badminton World Federation (BWF) Group-2 Level-1 tournament, capturing one gold and two silver medals. He won the gold medal in mens doubles SL3-SL4 event with Sukant Kadam as his partner. They beat fellow Indian opponents Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Manoj Sarkar in the final 21-17, 21-17.

However, Bhagat settled for silver medal in mens SL3 singles and mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event. In the singles final, Bhagat went down to his traditional England opponent Daniel Bethell 8-21, 10-21. In the mixed doubles summit clash, Indonesian pair of Hikmat Ramdani and Leani Ratri Oktila beat Bhagat and his Indian partner Manisha Ramdass 21-17, 21-17.

Four players from Odisha represented India in this tournament. G Dillaswar Rao and Subhrajeet Maharana, the other two Odisha shuttlers bowed out group stage in doubles events. The four Odisha para shuttlers were accompanied by coach Siba Prasad Das.
