Host Indian trounced Malaysia 5-0 in their third league match of the 7th Mens Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu today. This was the second win for India and helped them to climb up to the top of league table with seven points.
It was a memorable outing for India captain Harmanpreet Singh who achieved a personal milestone of scoring 150th international goal with a 42nd minute PC while Karthi Selvam, Hardik Singh, Gurjant Singh and Jugraj Singh contributed in win the thumping win for India.
In two other matches of the day, China held defending champions Korea to 1-1 draw while Pakistan played a 3-3 draw against Asian Games champions Japan. India will play their fourth league match against Korea tomorrow.
RESULTS:
August 6 (Match 7): Korea (Jonghyun Jang 18-PC) drew with China (Chongcong Chen 43-FG) 1-1. PoM: Lie Meng (China).
August 6 (Match 8): Pakistan (Abdul Rana 9-FG, Muhammad Khan 25-PC, 55-PC) drew with Japan (Seren Tanaka 13-FG, Ryosei Kato 37-FG, Masaki Ohashi 45-PC) 3-3. PoM: Muhammad Khan.
August 6 (Match 9): India (Karthi Selvam 15-FG, Hardik Singh 32-PC, Harmanpreet Singh 42-PC, Gurjant Singh 53-FG, Jugraj Singh 54-PC) beat Malaysia 5-0. PoM: Krishan Bahadur Pathak (India).
