  Shuttlers Shireen, Anshika, Bapun win multiple titles

Bhubaneswar girl Shireen Sadique proved to be the most successful competitor, winning three titles in the OSBA All-Odisha Sub-Junior (U15 & U17) State Badminton Championship, which was held at Auditorium-cum-Sports Complex in Jharsuguda from 11 to 13 August 2023.

Representing Khordha district, Shireen won the three titles in U-17 singles, doubles and mixed doubles events. Among other outstanding performers, Bhubaneswar boy Bapun Rout and Sundargarh girl Anshika Birok captured two titles each.

 

The three-day championship, carrying a total cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, was organised by Jharsuguda Badminton Association, under the auspices of Odisha State Badminton Association (OSBA).

RESULTS (All finals):

U-15 Boys Singles: Bapun Rout (Bhubaneswar) beat Jayakrushna Gardia (Sambalpur) 6-21, 22-20, 23-21.
U-17 Boys Singles: Bapun Rout (Bhubaneswar) beat Shreyansh Parida (Sundargarh) 21-13, 21-15.
U-15 Boys Doubles: Bibhudutta Biswal-Somyajeet Sahoo (Dhenkanal-Bhubaneswar) beat Nathaniel Mario Redden-Ojodeep Majhi (Khordha-Balasore) 21-9, 21-15.
U-17 Boys Doubles: Shriyansh Jena-Subhraketan Mallick (Mayurbjahj-Dhenkanal) beat Mayank Bhardwaj-Shreyansh Parida (Balasore-Sundargarh) 21-16, 21-11.

U-15 Girls Singles: Anshika Birok (Sundargarh) beat Swati Nayak (Cuttack) 17-21, 21-18, 21-18.
U-17 Girls Singles: Shireen Sadique (Khordha) beat Aksheeta Mohanty (Angul) 21-7, 21-13.
U-15 Girls Doubles: Nimeesha Ojha-Swati Nayak (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) beat Ipsita Mohanty-Sraddha Sreema Swain (Khordha-Khordha) 19-21, 21-18, 21-17.
U-17 Girls Doubles: Shireen Sadique-Adya Padhi (Khordha-Khordha) beat Anshika Birok-Swetangi Hotta (Sundargarh-Balasore) 21-19, 21-16.

U-15 Mixed Doubles: Ojodeep Majhi-Anshika Birok (Balasore-Sundargarh) beat Jayakrushna Gardia-Jessica Sahu (Sambalpur-Bhadrak) 19-21, 21-17, 21-11.
U-17 Mixed Doubles: Mayank Bhardwaj-Shireen Sadique (Balasore-Khordha) beat Agastya Nayak-Adya Padhi (Cuttack-Khordha) 21-13, 19-21, 21-7.
