Leading Odisha shuttlers Rutaparna Panda and her younger sister Swetaparna Panda bagged the womens doubles title at the Cameroon International 2023, a BWF tournament, in Cameroon at Yaounde Sports Complex in Yaounde, Cameroon on 27 August 2023.
Cuttack siblings Rutaparna and Swetaparna clinched the title, defeating Uganda opponents Husina Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi in the final 21-16, 21-8. Earlier in the semifinals, the Odisha duo defeated Cameroon pair of Madeleine Carene Leticia Akoumba Ze and Maeva Princia Gertrude Anamba 21-9, 21-8.
The womens doubles event featured only five pairs. Top-seeded Rutaparna and Swetaparna started their campaign with bye in the quarterfinals. They won their semifinal clash in 21 minutes and the final in 41 minutes.
Indian shuttlers achieved another success in the four-day tournament with PS Ravikrishna and Sankar Prasad Udayakumar winning the mens doubles title. They beat Algerial opponents Koceila Mammeri and Youcef Sabri Medel 21-12, 21-19 in the title clash.
