Earlier in the semifinals, India trounced Malaysia 10-4, while Pakistan prevailed over 7-3. Odisha defender Dipsan Tirkey bagged the Player of the Match award in the semifinal victory over Malaysia.
The nine-member Indian mens team, featuring Odisha defender Dipsan Tirkey, was led by Mandeep Mor with Mohammad Raheel Mouseen as his deputy. Hockey India announced a cash award of Rs 2 lakhs to each player of the Indian team and Rs 1 lakh to every member of the support staff.
India clinched a double crown in the Hockey 5s Asia Cup with their women team capturing gold medal, beating Thailand 7-2 in the final also in Salalah earlier on August 28. Odisha players Mariana Kujur, Ajmina Kujur and Dipi Monika Toppo were members of the Indian women team.
