Odisha boy Aditya Bikram Acharya achieved a notable success of his career, winning the doubles title at the SSA-AITA National Series U-16 Tennis Tournament at Singha Sports Academy (SSA) in Jalandhar, Punjab today.
Aditya clinched the title with Ranbir Singh from Haryana as his partner. In the epic doubles final, Aditya and Ranbir bounced back from a set down to beat Odisha-Bihar pair of Kaamlesh Rath and Kartikey Agassi in 2-1 sets.
After suffering a 0-6 drubbing in the first set, Aditya and Ranbir put up a courageous fight back to next two sets 7-5 and 17-15. This was the maiden National Series title for Aditya, who trains at KIIT-Alexander Waske-Altevol Tennis Academy in Bhubaneswar, under the guidance of coach Jaimin Mehta.
Student of St Xaviers High School, Kedarguori, Bhubaneswar, Aditya had bagged a treble earlier this year, winning both the U-14, U-16 singles and U-16 doubles title at the TAB-AITA-OTA Championship Series Tournament at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
