Odisha athletes achieved notable success on the opening day of the twoday Indian Grand Prix 5, winning two tittes and securing two positions and one third position at the Sector-7 Sports Complex in Chandigarh today. The event is being organised by Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
Javelin sensation Kishore Kumar Jena, who finished a creditable fourth at the recent World championship in Budapest, won the title with confidence, throwing the spear to a distance of 82.53 metre. Interestingly, Samarjeet Singh Malhi (Rajasthan), the current coach of Kishore, also competed with his ward and finished 18th with a throw of 60.13m.
