A 14-member Odisha State squad started its preparations today in Guwahati, Assam, for the forthcoming 8th Senior and 4th U-25 National Lawn Bowls Championships, scheduled to be held there from 23 to 30 September 2023. The preparatory camp will continue up to September 22.
According to State Bowling Association Odisha (SBAO) Secretary Sumit Ranjan Purohit, the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha, has provided assistance for the State squad’s preparation and participation in the Guwahati National Championships.
“The squad will put its best efforts in the National championships and try to win medals for the State. We are also hopeful of finishing among top seven teams and qualify for the 37th National Games starting next month in Goa,” said Purohit.
The Odisha squad, featuring seven men and seven women players, left for Guwahati on September 9, accompanied by one coach and two managers.

Men: Kailash Majhi, Narasingha Rana, Lalit Sharma, Sourav Ranjan Maharana, Dinesh Kumar Mahananda, Tarini Prasad Nayak, Sk Abujalal (U-25).
Women: Swetalana Bakshi, Padmasinee Putel, Rajeswari Seth, Roshni Sahu, Bishnupriya Bohidar, Rohini Naik, Pratima Seth (U-25).
Team Staff: Payoswini Purohit (Lady manager), Jashobanta Pujari (Manager), Haripriya Pujari (Coach).
