Budding Odisha international tennis player Aahan clinched a double crown, winning both the singles and doubles titles at the Chhattisgarh Asian 14&U Ranking Category 2 Tennis Tournament, which concluded in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh today.
Second-seeded Bhubaneswar girl Aahan emerged singles champion, defeating Indian opponent Parthasarati Arun Mundhe 6-0, 6-3. She bagged the doubles title with Indian partner Vrandika Rajput. They beat another Indian pair of Suryanshi Shekhawat and Shibani Gupte in the final 6-2, 6-2.
With this double crown, the total number of international titles for Aahan rose to six. Former India No 1 in girls U-12 rankings, Aahan has been training at Ace Base Tennis Academy, Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar, under leading Odisha coach Ajay Kumar Nishank.
Avipsha Dehury was another Odisha girl, who put up impressive performance in the Bhilai tournament, reaching both singles and doubles semifinals. In singles semifinals, Avipsha went down to Parthasarati Arun Mundhe 1-6, 1-6. In doubles last-four clash, Avipsha and her partner Srishti Kiran lost to Aahan and Vrandika Rajput 3-6, 2-6.
