  East Zone Junior Athletics: Odisha bag 36 medals

Odisha bagged a total of 36 medals in the 34th East Zone Junior Athletics Championships which was held at SAI Sports Complex, Salt Lake, Kolkara (West Bengal) from 17 to 19 October 2023. The 36 medals include 14 gold, eight silver and 14 bronze.

Among the Odisha athletes, Rajendra Sidhu claimed the best athlete awards in men U-18 age group. He won the gold medal in 110m hurdles, clocking 14.1 seconds. Ommkar Nanda and Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram bagged a double each in men U-18 and U-20 age group respectively.

Nanda won the two gold medals and shot put and hammer throw, while Jayaram secured the two yellow metals in 100m and 200m run.

Boys U-14: Silver:
Manas Majhi (Long jump, 5.87m). Bronze: Suresh Krusika (Triathlon, 1574).
Boys U-16: Gold: Jiwan Mukti Bilung (Long jump, 6.84m). Gold: Mangal Sinku (80m hurdles, 10.5). Silver: Mahendra Hansda (Long jump, 6.81). Silver: Odisha BIB No 626, 629, 631, 632 (Medley Relay, 2:02.1).
Men U-18: Gold: Ommkar Nanda (Shot put, 17.22). Gold: Rajendra Sidhu (110m hurdles, 14.1). Gold: Ommkar Nanda (Hammer throw, 64.80). Gold: Pratik Maharana (200m run, 22.0). Bronze: Astik Pradhan (200m run, 22.3).
Men U-20: Gold: Durga Charan Kisku (Pole vault, 4.05). Gold: Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram (100m run, 10.6). Gold: Dondapati Mrutyam Jayaram (200m run, 21.8). Silver: Saswat Kumar Sahoo (800m run, 1:57.1). Silver: Bhima Sardar (400m hurdles, 53.9). Silver: Nirmal Jena (Hammer throw, 43.07). Bronze: Sunit Pattnaik (Long jump, 6.67).

Girls U-14: Gold: Tejaswani Dhal (Javelin throw, 40.36). Bronze: Kavita Mahato (60m run, 8.2).
Girls U-16: Bronze: Tulasi Majhi (80m hurdles, 13.2). Bronze: Purabi Padhi (Discus throw, 28.05). Bronze: Parbati Hansdah (Long jump, 5.07).
Women U-18: Gold: Ankita Mohapatra (Hammer throw, 45.05). Gold: Odisha BIB No 594, 598, 600, 602 (Medley Relay, 2:25.5). Silver: Basanti Majhi (100m run, 12.6). Bronze: Alisha Priyadarshini Swain (Hammer throw, 36.29). Bronze: Krushnapriya Barisal (100m run, 12.7). Bronze: Deepa Singh (Shot put, 10.63). Bronze: Rameswari Gond (400m hurdles, 1:08.4). Bronze: Basanti Majhi (200m run, 26.2).
Women U-20: Gold: Baisnobi Hari (Hammer throw, 29.27m). Gold: P Arpita Archana Sahoo (Javelin throw, 43.19). Silver: Swarnalata Sharma (5000m run, 19:40.7). Bronze: Odisha BIB No 608, 613, 617, 618 (4x100m relay, 53.4). Bronze: Jamuna Tudu (Long jump, 5.33).
