A Aswini Rao won one bronze medal in woman tanding 60-65 kg weight category, while the other bronze medal was secured by Yashwant Luhar in men tending 60-65 kg event. Prem Singh Thapa accompanied the 12-member Odisha squad as technical official.

The International Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) is the international pencak silat governing organization and the only pencak silat organisation recognised by the Olympic Council of Asia.

Pencak silat is included in the Southeast Asian Games and other region-wide competitions. The combat sport made its debut in the 1987 Southeast Asian Games and 2018 Asian Games, both held in Indonesia.

Indian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) is the National governing body of the sport in India. The governing body of pencak silat in Odisha is titled as Pencak Silat Association, Odisha (PSAO) with Tapas Kumar Choudhury and Prem Singh Thapa as its President and Secretary respectively.

PSAO was registered under Societies Registration Act (No XXI of 1860) on 21 June 2018. Registration number of PSAO is: 26/14201800016 of 2018-19. It has 15 district affiliated units.
