Odisha bagged two bronze medals in sepak takraw competition of the 37th National Games, held at Fatorda Multi-Purpose Hall in Margao, Gao from 30 October 3 November 2023. A six-member women team, led by Itishree Samal, represented Odisha in this competition.
Odisha secured one bronze in women double event with Itishree Samal, Allaka Srabani and Sangita Kisan losing to Andhra Pradesh 1-2 in the semifinals. Goa won the gold medal, defeating Andhra Pradesh 2-1 in the final today. Earlier at the pool stage, Odisha beat Karnataka 2-0, Maharashtra 2-0 and lost to Goa 1-2 to enter semifinals.
Odisha claimed the other bronze medal in women quad event after going down to Haryana in the semifinals today. Members of the Odisha women quad team were: Itishree Samal, Allaka Srabani, Rupali Sahoo, Gayatri Sahoo, Simran Ekka and Sangita Kisan.
Odisha quad team reached semifinals, winning two matches and losing one at the league stage. They beat Jharkhand 2-0, Kerala 2-0 and lost to Goa 0-2. Lalatendu Swain and Madhusmita Behera accompanied the Odisha squad as coach and manager respectively.
