Sasmita Panda, Satyajit Gochhayaat, Manisha Sahoo, Raiguru Suryansh Mohapatra, Minati Singh and Subesh Hansdah bagged a double each in respective groups, winning gold medal in both individual time trial and mass start events of the 1st Odisha State Mountain Cycling Championship, which was held at Khani Bazar, near Hadagarh dam, Keonjhar on 9 and 10 September 2023.
Cuttack district emerged overall champions, bagging team titles in youth and sub-junior groups. KIIT, Bhubaneswar won the team titles in junior and senior groups. A total of 124 cyclists from different districts participated in the championship, which was organised by Orissa Cycling Association (OCA).

The two gold medals in senior men group were bagged by Rohit Hembram and Suraj Kumar Sethi. Urmila Behera and Madhusmita Bedak claimed the two gold medals in senior women group. The championship carried a total prize fund of Rs 1.60 lakh. Gold medal winners received Rs 5,000 each, while silver and bronze winners were given Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 each respectively.
Keonjhar DRDA Vice-Chairman Somanath Das graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophies and medals. OCA President and Arjuna Awardee Minati Mohapatra, Vice-President Nrusingha Charan Sahoo, General Secretary Prasanna Kumar Rout, Treasurer Sujit Rout and Coach Sushil Kumar Das were present on the occasion.
