  Sundargarh win State Sub-jr Girls hockey gold medal

Sundargarh won the gold medal in the 2nd Odisha State Sub-Junior Girls Hockey Championship, defeating Jajpur 5-1 in the final at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Runners-up Jajpur settled for silver medal, Sports Hostel Sundargarh secured the bronze medal, beating Khordha 3-1 in the match for third/fourth position.

A total of 113 goals were scored in the 24 matches of the championship. As many as 24 teams participated in the championship, which was organized by Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO), in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Government of Odisha.

 

State Sports Minister Tushar Kanti Behera and HAO President Dr Dilip Tirkey handed over the trophies, medals and prizes at the closing ceremony.
