Odisha bowed out of the Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship (Tier-2), losing to Delhi 1-2 in the semifinals at Sporting Planet Lovedale Central School in Belgaum, Karnataka today. After taking an early lead through captain Anchal Singh, Odisha conceded two goals in the second half to suffer the defeat.
Earlier, Odisha stormed into the semifinals by winning all three of their Group-A league matches in style. They beat mauled Chandigarh 8-0, Rajasthan 4-1 and Telangana 5-1.
Ritu Badaik was the top scorer for Odisha with a total of seven goals to her name, including one hat-trick against Chandigarh. Captain Anchal Singh and Bandana Naik also scored a hat-trick each against Chandigarh and Telangana respectively.
