  RSP crowned State Sub-Junior Men Hockey champions

Rourkela Steel Plant were crowned champions in the 2nd Odisha State Sub-Junior Men Hockey Championship, edging out Sundargarh 2-1 in shoot-out at Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. The pulsating final match went to the shoot-out stage as play in the regulation time ended in a 3-3 draw.

While Sundargarh claimed the silver medal, KIIT & KISS secured the bronze medal, defeating Deogarh 5-2 in the match for the third and fourth place earlier in the day. The championship, featuring 29 matches, produced a total of 156 goals.

 

Organised by Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) with the support of State Sports & Youth Services Department, the six-day championship has attracted 28 teams from various regions of Odisha.

State Sports Department Director Sidhartha Das graced the presentation ceremony as chief guest and handed over the trophies and medals.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: Best Goalkeeper & Player of the Final: Jagdeep Barla (Rourkela Steel Plant). Best Defender: Bimal Lakra (Sundargarh). Best Mid-fielder: Sanjiba Majhi (KIIT & KISS). Best Forward: Alok Kujur (Khordha). Player of the Tournament: Salman Lakra (Deogarh).
