  State Junior Men Hockey: RSP crowned champions

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) clinched the gold medal in the 2nd Odisha State Junior Men Hockey Championship, defeating Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) by 3-2 goals in the exciting final at Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

While ONTHHPC settled for the silver medal, Sundargarh claimed the bronze medal, getting the better of Sports Hostel Rourkela 2-1 in the match for the third and fourth positions, held earlier in the day.

 

A total of 32 teams participated in the championship, which was organised by Hockey Association of Odisha with the support of the Department of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Odisha. The tournament, featuring 32 matches, produced a total of 187 goals.

Odisha Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera, State Sports Director Siddhartha Das, Joint Secretaries Sailendra Jena, Kailash Chandra Das, Bijaynanda Nayak, SBI Deputy General Manager Rajiv Raman, Kalinga Stadium Technical Director Col A Rajesh, HAO General Secretary Sanatana Sahu graced the presentation ceremony as guests.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: Best Goal-Keeper of the Tournament: Vivek Lakra (Sundargarh). Best Defender: Anmol Ekka (RSP). Best Midfielder: Adrohit Ekka (Sundargarh). Best Forward: Aryan Xess (ONTHHPC). Player of the Final Match: Nevil Kullu (RSP). Player of the Tournament: Karan Lakra (RSP).
