Odisha asserted supremacy by bagging 12 out of 20 first prizes in the Khelo India Junior Womens Swimming Series-2023 (Round-4, Zone-4), which was held at the Kalinga Stadium Aquatic Centre in Bhubaneswar on 20 and 21 January 2024.
Dibyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan was the most successful Odisha swimmer, bagging three first prizes. Vadra Satpathy, Mannata Mishra and Arpita Samal were other notable prize winners with two first positions each.
Women swimmers in the age group of under 18 and under 15 from Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh participated in this series, which was organized under the aegis of Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Swimming Federation of India (SFI). A total of 60 swimmers participated in the event which was managed by The Odisha State Swimming Association (TOSSA).
TOSSA president Pradip Kumar Padhee, vice-president Akshaya Pradhan, technical head Surendra Nayak, SFI joint-secretary Lakshmi Chandra Mahakur gave away the prizes at the closing ceremony. Cash awards (Rs 6,000 to Rs 1,000) were given to the participants with first to fifth position in each event, which was supported by the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha.
