Odisha weightlifters continued their successful journey by bagging six medals in the 6th Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu 26 to 30 January 2024. The six medals comprised two gold, three silver and one bronze.
All six medal winners are trainees of Odisha Weightlifting High Performance Centre, which is operating at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. They were guided by Olympian and Odisha Weightlifting Association secretary K Ravikumar and other coaches of the HPC.
Among the six Odisha medallists, Jyoshna Sabar not only won the gold medal in womens 40 kg category with a total lift of 130 kg, she also created a new National Record in snatch with an effort of 60 kg. Priteesmita Bhoi captured the silver medal in the same weight category with a total lift of 116 kg.

Sadananda Bariha pocketed the other gold in mens 61 kg category with a total lift of 282 kg. Mina Santa and Hrudananda Das secured one silver medal each in womens 55 kg and below 81 kg categories respectively, while the lone bronze medal was claimed by Deepak Pradhan in mens 67 kg class.
