Odisha chess icon Padmini Rout tied the nuptial knot with Mumbai-based IT professional Jaikishin Mankani today. The marriage ceremony took place as per the Vedic traditions at a hotel in Bhubaneswar, the home town of International Master (IM) Padmini.
The ceremony was attended by eminent chess players of the country, including IM Soumya Swaminathan, IM Nisha Mohota, GM Swayams Mishra, IM Swayangsu Satyapragyan and Anwesh Upadhyaya.
Jaikishin is a chess enthusiast and huge fan of Padmini. He is the son of Chanda and Deepak Mankani. Padmini is one of the most decorated chess players of the country, winning an Olympiad medal, world and Asian titles in different categories. She is also a five-time National champion.
Thirty-year-old Padmini has been working as an officer at Indian Oil Corporation Limited since 2016.
