  India win Friendship Cricket Series for the Blind 2-1

A 17-member Indian Mens team, featuring four players from Odisha, won the three-match Friendship Cricket Series for the Blind 2-1, defeating Pakistan by eight wickets in the high-scoring final at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai today. Supposed to be a triangular series, it ended as a bilateral event as Sri Lanka did not participate.

India started their campaign with a setback as they lost the opening match by five wickets against Pakistan on February 22. But the formidable Indian team, featuring Odisha quartet of Pankaj Bhue (B2), Sukhram Majhi (B3), Nakula Badanayak (B2) and Debaraj Behera (B1) bounced back to clinch the series, beating Pakistan in the last two matches by 46 runs and eight wickets respectively.
 

Durga Rao Tompaki led the Indian team with Sunil Ramesh as his deputy. Debaraj Behera made his international debut for India in the opening match.

RESULTS:

22 February 2024: India 212/6 in 20 overs (T Durga Rao 61, D Venkateswar Rao 49; Kamran Akhtar 2/16, Badar Munir 2/36) lost to Pakistan 214/5 in 19.2 overs (Badar Munir 129*; Nakula Badanayak 1/22) by 5 wickets. PoM: Badar Munir.

23 February 2024: India 224/3 in 20 overs (Sunil Ramesh 87, D Venkateswar Rao 56, Ajay Kumar Reddy 42*; Zafar Iqbal 1/36) beat Pakistan 178/6 in 20 overs (Muhammad Salman 58, Badar Munir 30, Nisar Ali 25; T Durga Rao 1/24, Debaraj Behera 1/36) by 46 runs. PoM: Sunil Ramesh.

25 February 2024: Pakistan 193/9 in 20 over (Muhammad Salman 74, Muhammad Rashid 32; T Durga Rao 3/44, D Venkateswar Rao 2/20) lost to India 196/2 in 18.4 overs (Ajay Kumar Reddy 66, Sunil Ramesh 64*, D Venkateswar Rao 32; Muhammad Salman Idrees Saleem 1/2) by 8 wickets. PoM: Ajay Kumar Reddy.
