KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar claimed its third medal in the ongoing 4th Khelo India University Games, winning the silver in mens rugby seven competition at Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium, Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati today.
KIIT men put up good fight in the final against Chandigarh University, Mohali before losing by five points (7-12). They reached the final with five wins in a row. The 12-member KIIT team beat Shivaji University 29-7, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University 19-0 and University of Mumbai 28-0 in their three league games to qualify for the quarterfinals.
KIIT men continued their winning run by defeating Rashtriya Raksha University Gandhinagar 31-7 in the quarterfinals and then trounced Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in the semifinals 39-0.
