Odisha youngsters clinched a double, winning both the boys and girls singles titles in the AITA OTA MOSF KT Grassroot Championship Series U-12 Tennis Tournament, which was held at KT Global School, Barunei, Khordha from 1 to 3 December 2023.

Top seed Shreya Mohapatra emerged girls singles champion, defeating her Odisha statemate and second seed Sai Rupi Sourya Mohanty in the final 6-3, 7-5. The boys singles final witnessed an upset as second seed Suyash Patnaik rallied from a set down to beat his fellow Odisha player and top seed Surya Pratap Naik 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The three-day tournament was organised by Mission Olympics Sports Foundation (MOSF), under the aegis of Odisha Tennis Association (OTA) and All India Tennis Association (AITA).

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by former Odisha tennis international Chinmay Pradhan, who commended the collaboration between MOSF and KT Global School in hosting regular AITA Grassroot series.

“This type of the tournament provide a valuable platform for young tennis enthusiasts in the state to showcase their talents and elevate their performance on the national stage,” said Pradhan.
