  Deep, Subhrajeet shine at Bahrain PB International

Leading Odisha para shuttlers Deep Ranjan Bisoyee and Subhrajeet Maharana won a total of three medals in the Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024, which was held in Manama from May 21 to 26. The three medals featured one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Bisoyee, the second most decorated para shuttler of Odisha after Paralympic and World champion Pramod Bhagat, won the gold in mens doubles SU5- SL3-SL4 combined category with Manoj Sarkar from Uttarakhand as his partner. Incidentally they defeated Subhrajeet Maharana and his partner Jagadesh Dilli (Tamil Nadu) in the all-Indians final 21-15, 23-21. Maharana and Dilli put up impressive fighting quality in the 31-minute-long final before setting for the silver medal.

Bisoyee also secured one bronze medal for India, by reaching semifinals in mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category with Oksana Kozyna from Ukraine as his partner. But in the semifinals, they lost to Indonesian pair of Fredy Setiawan and Leani Ratri Oktial 4-21, 4-21.

The two medals at the Bahrain Para Badminton International, Bisoyee increased his total number of international medals to 16, which include four gold, five silver and seven bronze. For Maharana, this was his first silver and third international medal with the earlier two being bronze.
