Khelo India Cycling League: Swasti wins 5 silver medals
27 May 2024

Odisha cycling ace Swasti Singh bagged five silver medals in the Khelo India Womens Track Cycling League (National Final), which was held at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on 26 and 27 May 2024. She won the five medals in 3km individual pursuit, 200m sprint, 10km scratch race, keirin race and 500m time trial.

Top performers of the four zonal league competitions vied for medals in the National final of the Khelo India Womens League in New Delhi. Swasti qualified for the National final after bagging one gold and four silver medals in the East Zone competition, which was held at Birsa Munda Athletics Stadium in Ranchi last year.

Speaking on her performance in the National final, Swasti, who trains at SAI National Cycling Academy in Delhi since 2017, said “The competition was physically tough. We had to perform from dawn to dusk without much time to rest and recover. Competition was very challenging and I am happy that I won five silver medals.”

“I could have won a couple of gold medals if I had not missed training for over a month for unavoidable reasons. Recently I joined my new job at Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) in Bhubaneswar and spent some days with my family in Rourkela,” added Swasti who has the reputation of 23 National and four international medals so far.
