Odisha shooting ace Shriyanka Sadangi added one more international medal to her list of achievements by winning a silver at the Grand Prix competition in Poland yesterday. According to media reports, she achieved her latest success in womens 50m rifle 3 position (3P). The title of the competition could be Jozef Zapedzki Grand Prix.
However, details about the competition are not available in public domain and the performance of Shriyanka has not been confirmed by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). According one Odia daily, the Poland Grand Prix is a qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But Shriyanka has already qualified for the Paris Games. She grabbed the 13th quota place in womens 50m rifle 3 positions at the 15th Asian Shooting Championship in Changwon, South Korea on 31 October 2023. The Odisha shooter secured the Olympic ticket by finishing fourth in the individual event.
A PHD student of Bhubaneswar-based KIIT University and an employee of Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Shriyanka also won one gold and one bronze medal in womens 50m rifle 3 positions team event and womens 10m air rifle team event respectively at the Changwon Asian Championship.
For her remarkable performance at the Asian championship, Delhi-based Shriyanka was felicitated with a cash award of Rs 10.5 lakh by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 14 November 2023.
