  Natl Wheelchair Fencing: Odisha overall champs with 29 medals

Odisha bagged a total of 29 medals to emerge overall champions in the 16th Wheelchair Fencing National Championship, which was held at KPR Institute of Engineering & Technology in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 20 to 24 March 2024. The 29 medals featured 12 gold, nine silver and eight bronze.

A 13-member squad, featuring seven men and six women, represented Odisha in this National championship and all of them won one or more medals. Malti Panaure was most successful among the 13 wheelchair fencers, bagging four gold, one silver and one bronze medals.

 

Pujaswini Nayak was another leading medal winner for Odisha, capturing four gold and one silver. Odisha squad was accompanied by coaches Pravakar Behera and Bankim Chandra Mohanty; manager Prasant Kumar Behera and Odisha Para Sports Association fencing chairperson Bela Jaiswal.
