  East Zone lift Senior Women Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy

East Zone emerged champions in the Senior Women Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy Cricket Tournament, defeating South Zone by one wicket in the thrilling final, which was played at MCA Cricket Stadium in Pune from 9 to 11 April 2024. Captain Deepti Sharma was the main architect of the East Zone win, bagging 10 wickets and scoring 68 runs in the final match.

Earlier, East Zone crushed North East Zone by an innings and 120 runs in the quarterfinals and North Zone by 135 runs in the semifinals. Odisha all-rounder Sushree Dibyadarshini got the opportunity to play two matches for the East Zone team.
 

Sushree took two wickets in the quarterfinal and one in the final. She also scored 15 valuable runs in the final. Tanmayee Behera was also part of the East Zone squad, but did not get a chance to play any match. With this tournament, womens red-ball cricket for women returned to the domestic calendar of the country after four years.

28-30 March 2024 (Quarter-final at Pune Club Ground, Pune): East Zone 385/8 decl in 100 overs (Dhara Gujjar 140, Deepti Sharma 49, Durga Murmu 49, Uma Chetry 47, Rizu Saha 35, Titas Sadhu 23*; Debasmita Dutta 5/76, Yasin Sariba 2/100) beat North East Zone 108/10 in 34.3 overs (Prodhan Samayita 40, Ayu Sentilemla 23*; Deepti Sharma 5/9, Suravi Roy 2/31) and 157/10 in 75.3 overs after following on (Ningthoujam Devi 39, Ayu Sentilemla 33, Debasmita Dutta 30, Monica Lyngdoh 23; Suravi Roy 2/0, Sushree Dibyadarshini 2/20, Monika Das 2/28, Deepti Sharma 2/36, Mamta Paswan 2/42) by an innings and 120 runs.

3-5 April 2024 (Semi-final at Pune Club Ground, Pune): East Zone 132/10 in 71.4 overs (Monika Das 29, Durga Murmu 28; Shafali Verma 2/4, Amanjot Kaur 2/21, Priyanka Sharma 2/32) and 282/9 decl in 80 overs (Dhara Gujjar 58, Rizu Saha 45, Deepti Sharma 39, Uma Chetry 37, Saika Ishaque 37, Richa Ghosh 31, Durga Murmu 21; Mannat Kashyap 4/72, Nandani Sharma 2/18) beat North Zone 144/10 in 41.3 overs (Shafali Verma 58, Priya Punia 27; Mamta Paswan 5/53, Deepti Sharma 4/14) and 135/10 in 48.2 overs (Shafali Verma 49, Sushma Verma 22; Deepti Sharma 6/49, Annapurna Das 3/21) by 135 runs.

9-11 April 2024 (Final at MCA Cricket Stadium, Pune): South Zone 133/10 in 54.5 overs (Arundhati Reddy 57, Tamanna Nigam 29; Deepti Sharma 4/28, Titas Sadhu 4/30, Sushree Dibyadarshini 1/7) and 179/10 in 70.5 overs (Miriyala Durga 64, Minnu Mani 31, G Kamalini 27; Deepti Sharma 6/61) lost to East Zone 129/10 in 43.4 overs (Richa Ghosh 25, Durga Murmu 23, Deepti Sharma 22, Rizu Saha 22; Minnu Mani 5/47, Sajana S 2/6, Sunanda 2/17) and 184/9 in 61.3 overs (Deepti Sharma 46, Richa Ghosh 33, Monika Das 22, Sushree Dibyadarshini 15; Sahana S Pawar 3/44, Minnu Mani 3/65) by 1 wicket.
