  FIFA Friendlies: Pyari shines but India lose to Myanmar

Indian senior womens football team held hosts Myanmar to a 1-1 draw in their second and last FIFA friendly matches at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon today. Odisha star forward Pyari Xaxa gave India the lead in the 48th minute, while Win Theingi Tun equalized for Myanmar in the 50th minute.

This was a much better performance by Indian team which suffered a 1-2 defeat in the first match at the same venue earlier on July 9. Pyari Xaxa also scored the only goal for India in the 58th minute, while Win Theingi Tun and San Thaw Thaw bulged the net once each for Myanmar in the 14th and 74th minutes respectively.

The FIFA friendly series was the first meeting between Myanmar (World rank 54) and India (World rank 67) after more than five years. Ashalata Devi led the 23-member Indian team with Pyari Xaxa as the lone player from Odisha.

Forwards: Kajol Hubert Dsouza, Anju Tamang, Soumya Guguloth, Sandhiya Ranganathan, Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar, Lynda Kom Serto, Pyari Xaxa, Jyoti, Rimpa Haldar. Head coach: Langam Chaoba Devi.
