Promising Odisha tennis player Aahaan Mishra emerged champion in the U-14 boys singles event at the WEVG Salzgitter Junior Cup, which was held at the Tennis Club, Salzgitter-Bad, Germany, from 26 to 28 July 2024. He defeated fourth seed Mats Schwab of Germany 6-1, 6-2 in the final match.

Aahaan is currently ranked No 10 in India in the U-14 boys singles category and is a dedicated trainee at the Odisha Tennis Academy. To further hone his skills, he has embarked on a six-week advanced training program at the renowned Nelsen Tennis Academy in Germany, under the guidance of his coach, Santosh Kumar Mallik.

This is the same academy where India No 1, Sumit Nagal, is currently training and representing India in the Olympic Games in Paris.

Coach Santosh Kumar Mallik shared his insights, stating, "We are learning a lot from here, and the European tennis training methodology is significantly benefiting Aahaan. These experiences are invaluable and will greatly contribute to the development of other players in Odisha upon our return."
