  U-19 Cricket: Sohan bowls Gajapati to win over Ganjam

Superb haul of six wickets for 32 runs by Sohan Jena enabled Gajapati beat Ganjam by eight wickets in their preliminary league match of the OCA U-19 Mens Inter-District Cricket Tournament at Bidanasi Ground in Cuttack today. Jajpur and Balangir registered comfortable wins in two other matches of the day.

Jajupr rode on an unbeaten knock of 73 by Susanta Nayak to prevail over Kalahandi by seven wickets, while an unconquered knock of 81 by Samarpeet Patel helped Balangir get the better of Malkangiri by 63 runs.

Sakshyam Agrawal and Jogeswar Bag were other two notable performers for Balangir, scoring 63 runs and bagging four wickets respectively. Kalahandi captain Adhibas Pattnaik waged a lone battle against Jajpur, hitting a defiant 56.

 

RESULTS:

14 June 2024 (Match 25, Ravenshaw Ground-2): Kalahandi 136/10 in 29.1 overs (Adhibas Pattnaik 56, Badal Sahoo 28; MH Raza 3/15, Sayed R Hosen 2/25, Shamala R Reddy 2/28) lost to Jajpur 138/3 in 21.1 overs (Susanta Nayak 73*, Krish Choudhary 34; Priyanshu Singh 2/19) by 7 wickets. 14 June 2024 (Match 26, Nimpur Ground): Balangir 187/4 in 36 overs (Samarpeet Patel 81*, Sakshyam Agrawal 63; Bhakta Rana 2/37) beat Malkangiri 124/10 in 30.2 overs (Bhakta Rana 26; Jogeswar Bag 4/17, Bishesh Kumbhar 2/40) by 63 runs. PoM: Samarpeet Patel.

14 June 2024 (Match 27, Bidanasi Ground): Ganjam 62/10 in 23 overs (Sohan Jena 6/32, Kotla Madhava 2/14) lost to Gajapati 63/2 in 11.2 overs (Debi Prasanna Ray 24) by 8 wickets. PoM: Sohan Jena.
